SUNTORY INVESTS US$50M IN INCREASING YAMAZAKI PRODUCTION
Japanese whisky producer Suntory has announced it will invest 5 billion Yen (US$50 million) in increasing productivity at its Yamazaki distillery.

Suntory is investing heavily in increasing production at its Yamazaki distillery to meet soaring demand
Over the next two years, Suntory will invest the sum in increasing capacity at both the distillery and the Ohmu Ageing Cellars in order to “meet mid- and long-term demand and prepare for the further expansion in the Japanese and global markets”.

Global shipments of Suntory whisky has been growing rapidly year on year, with shipments of Yamazaki up by 24% and Hakushu shipments up by 187%.

The investment also marks 90 years since Suntory founder Shinjiro Torii built Yamazaki, the first whisky distillery in Japan.
