Springbank, Longrow en Hazelburn expressies

gisteren kwam een heel fijn pakketje binnen met een Springbank portwood 14 (1989) van de woodexpressies, een oude versie van de Campbeltown loch 21 en een mull of Kintyre music festival 2005 binnen.
Binnenkort is er voldoende ruimte om Springbank uit te stallen.

Dat klinkt inderdaad als een fijn pakketje..

De nieuwe Society-bottelingen komen uit: dit keer een bijna 15-jarige Longrow Fresh Sherry en een 15-jarige Springbank Jamaican Rum Cask. Voor de Springbank is een loting ingesteld. Ik wil zelf 1 fles Longrow, dus ik kan nog een fles Longrow voor de liefhebbers bestellen (GBP 65 + verzendkosten). Daarnaast wil ik wel meedoen aan de loterij als er gegadigden zijn (ook GBP 65 + verzendkosten).

Autumn 2016 Society Bottle - Longrow 14yo Fresh Sherry 53.2%

NOSE: Rich walnut, pecan, notes of stewed fruits with woodiness and scent of worn leather
TASTE: Stewed fruits remain, rhubarb, dunnage warehouse flavour and woody
FINISH: Meaty and chewy, dry with menthol as the smokiness builds up.

cost £65.00. There is a total of 600 bottles.

Bonus Bottle - Springbank 15yo Jamaican Rum Cask 51.2%

NOSE: Citrus notes, zesty with fresh orange peel, key lime pie and and milk chocolate
TASTE: Ripe bananas and demerara sugar, watermelon and grapefruit
FINISH: Sweetness continues with grenadine syrup, sweet potato, root ginger with brine and the saltiness of a Springbank dram

The Springbank 15yo will also cost £65.00. There is a total of 228 bottles.

De society van Springbank zelf. Ze bottelen een paar keer per jaar flessen alleen voor hun members, die je als member al dan niet kunt kopen (is niet verplicht). Je wordt ook wat meer op de hoogte gehouden door de distillery.

De Hazelburn 9y Barolo cask finish dit weekend geproefd..

Ik was er geen fan van:

Hazelburn is tripel-distilled en dus - ondanks dat het een campbelltown is - vrij delicate spirit.

Dat werkt voor mij fantastisch op bourbon of iets zoets zoals sauternes, maar niet met een red wine finish.

Veels te kruidig / agressief / wrang / zurig / ... heel de spirit is overpowerd door dat wijnvat. Ik had hem dus liever gebotteld gezien na die zes jaar op fresh bourbon
