GlenDronach 16yo, 60,4% OB voor Versailles

Op The Malt Diary lees ik over deze malt:

.... I couldn't bring it down just because it's so sweet, as I know many people like a fullbodied and extremely sweet malt. The aftertaste is dry and very concentrated on dark berries.

GlenDronach 16 years Versailles own bottling, 60,4%. Oloroso Sherry Casks. Finish in 1st Fill American Oak.

Het verhaal van Serge is wat positiever:
Glendronach 16yo 1992/2009 (60.8%, OB for Versailles Dranken Nijmegen Holland, 306 bottles) Four stars and a half Nose: deep fruity and vinous sherry, mulled wine, strawberry liqueur and bitter oranges. Extravagant. Mouth: very creamy, on both heavy sherry and heavy ‘new’ oak. Vanilla, ripe strawberries and ginger. Pepper in the finish. Spectacularly rich.

Kent iemand deze uit eigen ervaring ? Of is het een andere dan in het review ? The Malt Diary en whiskyfun geven 60,8% aan, Versailles 60,4%..

Glendronach 16 YO selected by The Whisky Club and Versailles, OB, 60.8%, D: 1992, B: 2009, cask 39, 306 bottles. Price:
€ 82,95 bij van Zuylen !!

Colour: Amber

Nose: Strong sherry notes, on leather, tangerine, bloody orange with a nice "velvety" structure. Rich, intense and complex, without any rubber.

Taste: Thick, fully bodied, fragrant, floral, slightly peaty, on tannins, leather, treacle, orange, tangerine, with some beeswax. Complex and very intense. The finish is long, thick, syrupy, on fudge, orange, wild berries and some peat smoke.

General Impression: An excellent Glendronach, from a flawless sherry cask, complex and very intense. Delicious (and luck Dutch). More intense than the 15 and 18 YO bottlings. This cask was shared between the Nümegen Whisky Club and the Dutch Importer Versailles. The first single cask bottling under the new ownership?

GlenDronach 1993, 16 YO, OB, 60.4%, B: 2009, Oloroso butt 523, 634 bottles. Price:

Colour: Amber

Nose: Fresh, floral, sweet, slightly malty, on orange, tangerine and some spices (vegetal condiments). Lovely.

Taste: Nicely spicy, on aromatic herbs, tannins, leather, orange, with some tangerine and a drop of rosewater, and a slight smokiness. We are getting close to the style of the old 15 YO 40%, but with more punch. The finish is medium to long, tannic, spicy and fruity (orange, tangerine and berries).

General Impression: A very nice GlenDronach, complex, with a nice interplay of flavours, without off-notes.

Hij is overigens 60,8%
en helaas niet meer te krijgen voor zover ik weet
Als je een keer op bezoek bent kun je hem nog wel proeven

Bij Versailles staat hij nog wel voor € 85,95. Geen idee of hij er ook nog echt is als ik zou bestellen.

Misschien tijd om die 15yo 100% sherry cask die hier op de plank staat eerst maar eens open te maken

EDIT P.s: vond hier nog wat over een aantal Single Casks, ook een 1992.

Glendronach heeft inderdaad een aantal leuke single casks uitgebracht. De 1972 Cask 719 was voor mij de mooiste whisky van 2009 en een van de lekkerste sherrybottelingen die ik geproefd heb. Jammer alleen dat hij zo duur is.
