World Whisky wint prijs in de VS

The International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) Annual Cookbook Awards were announced on April 22 during the IACP's annual conference at the Awards Gala in Portland, Oregon along with awards for food journalists, photographers and culinary excellence.

World Whisky, published by Dorling Kindersley (ISBN 978 1 4053 41721) won in the Drinks category. The book was written by a team of internationally acknowledged whisky writers: Charles MacLean (editor-in-chief), Dave Broom, Tom Bruce-Gardyne, Ian Buxton, Peter Mulryan, Hans Offringa and Gavin Smith.

Dave Broom, Peter Mulryan and Hans Offringa also contributed as photographers.

World Whisky is also nominated for a James Beard Award.

Dit is niet sarcastisch bedoelt, maar Hans is al wereld beroemd op whisky gebied. Op Islay zag ik zijn boeken in de boekwinkel in Bowmore en in New York heb ik zijn boek Whisky and Jazz gekocht voor een vriend die van Jazz houdt en whisky uiteraard.
Als je zomaar in twee wwreld delen je boeken in de winkels hebt liggen ben je mijns insziens al behoorlijk bereoemd in de whisky wereld. Interviews in kranten in de VS en interviews voor de BBC en uiteraard Nederlandse media.
Tja, mensen, wij hebben een beroemdheid in ons midden hier

Vrees niet Jock,
Ik ben en blijf een eenvoudige jongen uit de provincie, diep geworteld in zijn rural roots. Dankzij het feit dat jullie allemaal mijn boeken willen kopen, kan ik blijven schrijven. Maar Becky is en blijft voor mij The Famous Spouse!

Dit keer zijn we met de boot gegaan, en dat is maar goed ook, want Ierland en Schotland hebben de vliegvelden weer op slot gedaan ivm de vulkanische as.

Zit je in de Drummond Hotel in St. Fillans Hans? Wel leuk daar bij Loch Earn. Ik ben dol op Perthshire zowizo, maar Loch Earn is een ietsje pietsje minder toeristich en oh zo mooi
