Royal whisky

Ongelezen berichtdoor Piet » 04 Mei 2013, 09:55

Ik kwam dit tegen op het MaltManiacs netwerk, MM-MALTS-L Digest, Vol 47, Issue 3, leek me wel leuk.

De vraag van Mikael Weisz was:
Help with identifying whisky?
Does any one know what might be in the bottle?
Is it a blend or singel malt, how old can it be?

Een antwoord/vragenvan Ulf Buxrud:
Mikael,
I believe it is a local, meaning non UK, brand as label says ‘imported in cask’.

The brand ‘Royal Whisky’ is nonexistent in my combined files listing a good selection UK whisky labels since approx 1850, domestic as well as for export.

It is probably not a blend. Blends used to be exported by bottle from the beginning of the blended era, not by cask.

The label does not give any indications whereas it is a grain or a malt whisky. Could be either.

Distillery origin is an enigma and will probably stay so.

Are there any embossments on the bottle bottom?

Do you know from which country the bottle stems from? I bet it is the US or any of the Commonwealth countries.
