PORT CHARLOTTE: EXCITING TIMES AHEAD
From humble beginnings in 2001, we’ve made slow but sure progress at Bruichladdich Distillery.

Starting out 17 short years ago with founders Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin, Jim McEwan & Gordon Wright, we've evolved to employ more than 90 people. We’ve pushed the boundaries of barley exploration in Scotland; creating partnerships with 17 Islay farmers, reintroducing Bere with the help of the Agronomy Institute in Orkney, we've arguably distilled more organic barley than any other single malt distillery in Scotland and we've experimented with regional trials. We've questioned the transparency of the Scotch whisky industry and we've challenged conventional cask maturation. Throughout it all, we’ve continued our commitment to 100% Islay maturation and 100% Islay bottling using Islay spring water…

Needless to say, we’re aware of the old adage that ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ but we’ve tried incredibly hard to resurrect a distillery on Islay that people can be proud of. From those who live and work here, to those of you at home, thousands have followed our journey and supported us along the way.

With many other projects in the pipeline, we want to take a moment to share with you, our loyal fans, our latest work:

* The Port Charlotte Relaunch *

Over the past year or so, we set out to give an old favourite some new clothes. Frankly, we wanted to give Port Charlotte the elegant, modernist image it deserves. Therefore, from June, we will introduce new bespoke packaging complete with an opaque green glass bottle, a paper label, heavier closure, and prominent emboss on the back. The attention to detail is impeccable. Trust us.

Nevertheless! We are distillers, not designers, and the quality of the liquid is of paramount importance. Therefore the style of the Port Charlotte spirit will remain unchanged. We will peat as before to the heavyweight 40ppm. We will continue to distil, mature and bottle in the same way we always have, using knowledge and skill passed through generations. We will continue to explore the influence of barley provenance, cask evolution and the passing of time, all of which will be demonstrated in the new Port Charlotte range.

Four new spirits will be released this year. More details to come on our website in the next few days. For now, we hope a small preview (below) is enough to whet your appetite.

Rich and fruity following Marsala cask maturation, this 2009 PC will be bottled at 56.3% abv. An exclusive for global travel retail.

PORT CHARLOTTE MRC:01 2010
Matured in the finest oak casks from the Bordeaux left bank, MRC:01 will be bottled at 59.2% abv.

Thanks voor het delen. Bovenstaande zijn voor mij iets om naar uit te kijken. Benieuwd wat de prijs gaat doen.. en de kwaliteit.. ben niet zo'n OB-fan over het algemeen (enkele uitzondering daargelaten).

Ze hebben ook een updated ontwerp gehad, ziet er best chique uit (ik was al een fan van de PC branding). Ik kan nu alleen even geen plaatjes linken (sta in een pretpark in Apeldoorn)...

Dat laatste is te zien ook. Had niet mijn keuze geweest ... foeilelijk zeg.

Hier ook geïnteresseerd in die 2 cask finishes (MRC = Mouton Rothschild cask?), ik vond de CC:01 erg geslaagd (die zat rond de €75).

Nu maar hopen dat de verkoop tegenvalt met zulke lelijke flessen (lijkt wel verfverdunner). Wie weet gaan de prijzen dan uiteindelijk meevallen.

Ok, de organic 2010 zie ik bij bij de gigant, maar is een stuk duurder dan de 2009.
En ook een hoop andere bling varianten, maar op 46% ipv 50% abv (edit: oudere bottlings volgens whiskybase).
