Plans have been approved to reopen a whisky distillery in southern Scotland which closed more than 90 years ago.
The Annandale Distillery ceased production in 1919 and the area was turned over to farming use.
However, a £4m project has now been granted the green light to start the distilling process once again.

In May 2008 Blackwood Distillers went into administration, and in August 2008 was forced into liquidation. A new company, Catfirth Limited, has been set up to take the distillery project forward, part of the funding for which is to be from the continued import of Scottish whisky for maturation in Shetland.

Huntly Distillers Ltd. has been recently created to construct a single malt, neutral alcohol and gin distillery complex. The company will build a state of the art and entirely carbon neutral “green” Single Malt, Single Grain, Vodka, Gin and Neutral alcohol distillery in Huntly, Scotland. A new single malt “The Huntly” will be produced by the company.

Het is nu (mod: 2009) tevens de meest westelijk gelegen distilleerderij in Schotland. Dit jaar (mod: 2009) voor het eerst een "new spirit" en in 2011 een eerste single malt Whisky.
The first single malt whisky to be legally distilled on the Western Isles has been made available in a limited run of 2,011 bottles.
The three-year-old whisky was made in a former illicit still at Abhainn Dearg Distillery in Uig, on Lewis.
Mark Tayburn got permission to use the still under a licence granted by the HM Revenue and Customs in November 2008.
Leftover malt barley mash from the whisky making process is fed to the distillery's Highland cow herd.
The cows' dung is to be used as fertiliser for local barley crops which could eventually supply the distillery, rather than buying in grain from elsewhere.
The single malt has been launched to coincide with the start of Gaelic's Royal National Mod in Stornoway.
Mr Tayburn said: "We are delighted to launch this special whisky and finally reclaim the heritage of whisky making in the Isle of Lewis which stretches back hundreds of years."...
