Spirits maker Beam Inc. said it has agreed to buy the only remaining independent Irish whiskey distillery, Cooley Distillery, for about $95 million, in a deal that marks the company's entrance into one of the industry's fastest-growing categories.

Under the deal, which is expected to close in the first quarter, Beam will offer Cooley's stockholders $8.25 in cash for each outstanding share.

Beam expects the acquisition to be neutral to earnings in 2012 and will be increasingly accretive in future years.

Ja, daar kwam ik ook achter na wat zoeken Blijkbaar wordt er in mijn vriendenkring bovengemiddeld Ierse whiskey (vnml. Jameson en Tullamore Dew) gedronken

In dat geval vind ik het niet vreemd dat het in de lift zit, het is (over het algemeen, met de zojuist van eigenaar gewisselde Connemara als uitzondering die de regel bevestigt) zacht en subtiel genoeg om een groot publiek aan te spreken lijkt mij.
